Race Day

The half marathon begins at 9:00 AM on Saturday, October 12th.

There are potential changes to the half marathon route this year. The race starts at the White Pass Ski Resort on the south side of Highway 12. Look for our DOG LAKE HALF MARATHON signs to signal the start location. Sheriffs will be on location to stop traffic as racers cross the Highway to run on the eastbound side of the road. Racers will continue for the next 8.45 miles to the intersection of Tieton Rd. and HWY 12. Again, Yakima County sheriffs will be on hand to stop traffic and allow racers to cross the intersection. Half marathoners will continue through the intersection and stay on the eastbound shoulder of Hwy 12 as they run to the turn-around point just past mile 11. They will retrace their steps for the final 2.1 miles and finish their race near Silver Beach Resort.

Please continue to check out our Facebook page for updated information.

Race Day: White Pass Lodge parking lot 7-8 am

Your packet bag is labeled and is also your drop-off bag in case you want to shed clothing at the start of the race.

Please DO NOT contact any of these locations directly about packet pick-up. If you have questions, email info@doglakemarathon.com.

Parking will be available behind Silver Beach Resorton the bed of Rimrock Lake. Please DO NOT park in front of the motel. No parking will be permitted at the start of the race. Parking is limited, so carpooling is encouraged.

Transportation will be provided to the beginning of the race. Two shuttles will leave from Silver Beach at 7:45 am and again at 8:30 am. Due to the construction on HWY 12 and the detour, please consider the extra drive time it may take to meet the shuttles.

Aid Stations/Portable Toilets

Volunteers at dog lake marathon

Half: 2.5, 7.25, 9, 11, finish. Aid stations will have water/Gatorade and basic first aid supplies. Aid stations at 9 and 11 will have Gu as well.

In addition to water and gatorade, select aid stations will have gu, gummy bears and pretzels.

Portable toilets are available at the start of the race, behind Silver Beach Resort and at the half marathon turn-around mile 11.

Due to the potential for road detours this year, and to keep runners safe, no spectators are allowed at the intersection of Hwy 12 and Tieton Road. You can still drive down Tieton Road to cheer on the marathon runners, however, be aware there will be added traffic due to the construction detour and we ask that drivers consider the safety of the runners on the road. Spectators are welcome to park behind Silver Beach Resort and cheer runners on as they come into the finish. Runners that have contact with spectators at any other point in the race may be disqualified. Course officials will be noting splits at various aid stations.

Course Information

Marathon in Progress

Be aware the course is open to traffic. However, Yakima County Sheriff flaggers will be at the start of the race and at the intersection of Hwy 12 and Tieton Road stopping traffic for runners. Due to detours from Hwy 12 to Tieton Road this year, deputy sheriffs will be stopping/slowing traffic at certain points along the course and a patrol car will be guiding traffic slowly along Tieton Rd. to keep runners safe. All runners must run on the eastbound shoulder (south side) of Highway 12. There will be signs along the course and volunteers directing runners. Safety is paramount, so be sure to wear bright clothing. As race day approaches, be sure to monitor the traffic cam at White Pass.

Race Cutoff Times

Because this is a point-to-point race that is open to traffic, the half marathon cutoff time is 3:00:00. There is no early start.
